...Text "Introduction"

Once upon a time there was a club photographer who wanted to show his pictures to a wider audience . . .

Hello, and welcome to my web site. I hope that you enjoy looking at my pictures and that they enable you to share at least some of the wonder that nature in close-up instils in me.

I am a hobby photographer whose preferred subject is natural history, rather than a natural historian who also takes pictures. One of the many enjoying aspects of my hobby is the identification of, and learning about, the subjects that I have photographed. This is usually achieved by comparing my pictures to those in my growing collection of reference books. I am well aware that I sometimes get it wrong, often because I am reduced to making a best guess from the possible (frequently poor) likenesses. Please do not let any misidentifications spoil your tour around my gallery, but please let me know if you spot any errors so that I can make the necessary corrections.

I have successfully tested these pages in Internet Explorer 3+, Netscape Communicator/Navigator 3+ and Opera 3.6+. I hope it works on a Mac, but I have no way of testing that. You can see a history of changes to this website HERE.

The larger versions of my pictures measure up to 620 pixels on their longer side. They may overlap the screen very slightly at 640x480 resolution because of the scroll bar. There is one other picture that may cause problems for anyone viewing at less than 1024x768. You will know which it is when you see it!

If anyone experiences any other problems, please let me know.
